UAA170 LEDBAR

Throughout the years I created a few circuits, used by me for research and development or just for fun. By checking the internet on projects, due to the size of the internet, limited can be gathered. Thats the main reason for this page, to give guys like me information on things I already created. Oh, and :

I CAN NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE MADE BY BUILDING THESE CIRCUITS!!!!

LED BATTERY CHECKER

FOR CAR OR MOTORBIKE

WITH UAA170

Programming

On a sunday, the weather was nice to take my bike out for a ride. To start it I can kick or just push a button. The problem was that the power in my battery was completely drained so even kicking the engine didn't work.

Because of earlier problems with de battery I needed a way of measuring the voltage of the battery while driving. With 16 LED's in combination with a UAA170 chip and a bit of time I created a small case containing this circuit.

R1 and R2 are controlling the intensity and carryflow of the LED's. R3 to R6 is the part that creates the reference voltages to the UAA170. Pin 12 is the minimum and should be 3 V. Pin 13 is the maximum and should be about 6V. Pin 11 is the measuring voltage and can be 6V max. That's why it is divided by ressistors. Because the power of the circuit is also the input, the reference voltages are stabelized with a 6V2 Diode.

The circuit was created on a euroboard. (see the layout below)
